Welcome to a Toony Blunt IBT practice listening test. You will hear a passage on the topic of Tibet and the Chinese Governement. After you have listened to the passage, you will answer a series of multiple choice questions. Please listen carefully and choose the best answer for each question.
Tibet is a region in Asia that is located between China and India. It has its own unique culture, language and religion. The Chinese government has controlled Tibet since the 1950s and has implemented policies to suppress Tibetan culture and religion. Many Tibetans have protested against Chinese rule and there have been reports of human rights abuses.
The Chinese government claims that Tibet has always been a part of China and that China has brought economic development and prosperity to the region but the Tibetans don’t agree. They claim that the Chinese government has murdered many Tibetans and jailed many others.
The Chinese government has also been criticized for its treatment of the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet. The Dalai Lama has been living in exile since 1959 and the Chinese government has accused him of being a separatist. However, the Dalai Lama has stated that he only wants autonomy for Tibet and not independence.
Many countries and international organizations have expressed concern about the situation in Tibet and have called for the Chinese government to respect the human rights of Tibetans.
