Welcome to a Toony Blunt IBT practice listening test. You will hear a passage on the topic of renewable energy. After you have listened to the passage, you will answer a series of multiple choice questions. Please listen carefully and choose the best answer for each question.
Renewable energy refers to energy sources that are naturally replenished and can be used indefinitely. Examples of renewable energy sources include solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.
One of the main benefits of renewable energy is that it is more environmentally friendly than non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels. Renewable energy sources do not release harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which can contribute to climate change.
In addition to being more environmentally friendly, renewable energy is also more sustainable. Non-renewable energy sources, such as coal and oil, will eventually run out, whereas renewable energy sources will not.
Another benefit of renewable energy is that it can create jobs and stimulate economic growth in fields such as research and development, manufacturing, and construction.
Despite these benefits, the adoption of renewable energy has not been without its challenges. One major challenge is the high upfront costs associated with the development and implementation of renewable energy projects. Another challenge is the resistance to change from those who are invested in non-renewable energy sources.

Have your students make 2 lines facing eachother. Have them ask one of the questions below and then say, “Rotate!” and have them rotate around in a clockwise direction so that they are facing an new person. Repeat.
Questions:

- What do you think we can do to prevent climate change?
- How would the global economy be affected if we were to stop using fossil fuels?
